Night Vision is a series of photographic works that look at the intersections between sculpture, collage and photography and investigates the camera as tool to bring types of unseen and invisible things into vision and materiality. The photographs explore ideas imperceptible to the eye, regarding intimacy and thresholds of perception and experience. The work was produced through shooting a series of studio-built sculptural assemblages and draws inspiration from Suzanne Vega’s song Night Vision. The song talks about day turning into night and trying to hold onto the shapes and meaning of things in semi-darkness.
Day and night, With her hand, Rule of thirds, Find the outline, Things will tell you their name, Paper cut, I’m solid and then void, In blind faith, Visions, Find the shape through the grain, High noon, The empty glass, But I can only teach you night vision
