Body, like vessel, like painting, like water
Brunswick
June 2025
The installation ‘Body, like vessel, like, painting, like water’ explored material ideas of fragility, embodiment and accumulation through an intermeshed dialogue between painting/drawing and sculpture processes – such as re-purposing shredded works on paper as sculptural vessels.
The project reflects on the experience of recently connecting with and processing the latent grief regarding my mother’s illness and death thirty
years prior. In examining relationships between the body and materials, the work looks at the way that personal experiences can be metabolised and metamorphosed through art practice and the physical process of making.
Please note these first images are from a test install at my studio, images from The Wandering Room in the exhibition 'The body holds itself' with Anna Dunnill found Below
